Feedback from Holy Trinity's New Vision Consultation

We are grateful for all who took the trouble to respond to our consultation.

Three responses were from charities: one needed a meeting room on regular basis; one needed the church for an event; one needed an exhibition space.  We can accommodate all three.

Other suggestions were for a concert venue (which our sister church, St John the Baptist, already does very well); and Windsor Museum.

There were also comments about the cleanliness of the exterior of the church and the homeless people who gather there.  With help from the Household Cavalry followed by a small group of parishioners the exterior is now looking much better, but this continues to be an issue for our limited resources.

We welcome everyone who wishes to visit the church or use the benches outside and this includes some people who do not have a home.  As part of Churches Together in Windsor we have been trying to support them by providing them with hot meal twice a week and access to washing facilities, healthcare advice etc. - this is supported by the police.

Our hope is to help those who have found themselves in this tragic situation - rather than to just move them (and "the problem") to another area.  We are working with the police to monitor the situation, and address any excessive drinking or rowdiness. Obviously, as you would in any public area, if anyone's behaviour is offensive please call the police.

Although this stage of the consultation is closed, we continue to welcome comments, suggestions and enquiries.

Holy Trinity New Vision Consultation

137_HolyTinityWindsor191_LR
We have got this beautiful, large, listed building in the heart of windsor’s community

What would you use it for?

Holy Trinity Church first opened more than one hundred and sixty years ago. Since then times have changed – society has changed and with it our expectations and aspirations. Going to church on Sunday is now a minority occupation. But that doesn’t mean the Church no longer has a role to play. Rather, it means it has different work to do, to be done differently.

Ø Holy Trinity was built for the community, and to serve the community.

Ø We affirm that intention, and want to develop a new vision and practice of service to the community.

Ø We would welcome your ideas about how we might do this.

Ø It can still be a church, but it can be so much more as well.

Ø We have got this building, which could be used differently. What would you use it for?

We would value your response to this question. Please click on the comments link at the end of this item, your identity will be treated confidentially and your responses collated with others.

During the coming months we are consulting a wide range of individuals and organisations. We shall then make some proposals to put to the Parochial Church Council in the autumn of this year. As they develop, we will post details on our website; and we will publish our plans in the local media.

We can’t do this without your help, so please: may we have your response as soon as p ossible?

We look forward to hearing from you.
